Kristi Mason, born in Windsor, Ontario in 1933, is truly special and an inspiration to us all. As a Grade 11 student at St. Anne Catholic High School in Belle River, Ontario, she is enrolled in the special education program.
Kristi was born with apraxia, a developmental and coordination disorder that affects motor skills, speech, written language, thought processes and physical agility. Kristi has worked much harder than other students her age, and she eagerly accepts the challenges that apraxia brings. |
Her volunteer work has included providing companionship to elderly nursing home residents, teaching special needs children to ride their bikes without their training wheels, and keeping time for her school and community sporting events.
She has completed Girl Guides and has graduated from Grade 1 piano. While attending A.V. Graham Public School in Tecumseh, Ontario, Kristi was elected as the Prime Minister. She was the first exceptional student with learning disabilities to achieve that title.
Kristi is a free spirit who is enthusiastic and genuine; she loves music, dancing, and working with her school drama club.
Kristi captivates those around her with her lively imagination and continues to inspire us with her accomplishments.
Books by Kristi Mason include:
The Adventures of Connecticut, Connecticut's Journey to Grand Central Station, co-authored with Shelley Awad
